Cooper seemed to sense David’s intention and moved out of the way to allow him to approach the injured bear. David reached into his backpack and pulled out a first aid kit that he always carried with him on hikes. He slowly approached the bear, holding out his hand as a gesture of peace. To his surprise, the bear didn’t react aggressively.
