The men exchanged nervous glances. Jane could tell they were amateurs, probably local kids looking for a thrill. Their adventure, however, had landed them in a trap laid by an elderly woman. She could imagine the story they would tell their friends, their humiliation painted clearly across their faces. But what these boys told her eventually made her break down in tears.
