Every dog who entered the shelter had its own personal file. For most dogs, these paper dossiers were thin, which meant that the dogs did not stay all that long before getting adopted. But when Kate opened Sadie’s file, she was met with a decent stack of papers. They were all the other return forms from previous owners. A perfect place to start searching because all owners filled in the reason for returning Sadie.
