As soon as John put the car into drive, the moose broke into a brisk pace down the road. The animal kept glancing over its shoulder, checking to make sure they were still following. It would pause every so often, snorting and grunting to guide them. Each sound seemed purposeful as if it were urging them onward. Hailey leaned forward, intently watching the moose’s every move.
