Parks and Recreation
Parks and Recreation is a spin-off to the huge hit The Office. It’s been around for a while and so you might have heard of it already but if you haven’t given watching it a go yet, I’d really recommend it.
The Parks and Recreation department are a colourful and diverse part of the U.S. government, with a range of hilarious and interesting characters. Leslie Knope is the main character of the show, played by the hilarious Amy Poehler, and she brings a little sunshine and light to every situation she enters.
The show is similar to The Office in its simultaneous dealings with both slapstick comedy and sentimental issues. The show will have you laughing every episode but it will at times have you in tears as it deals with very real and human issues between a group of very special individuals.
It tells amazing stories of friendship, community, perseverance, and love.
And it is a show that shouldn’t be missed.
Schitt’s Creek
Schitts Creek is an amazing but short-lived comedy from the father and son duo Eugene and Daniel Levy. The star-studded show tells the story of a rich family who is humbled by a fall from riches. They end up in a butt of a town where they must essentially start their lives from scratch.
The show gets satirical dialogue down to a tee and the characters are as funny and well-rounded as could be. The characters go on the journey of a lifetime and you will find yourself rooting for them at every step of the way.
The show is hilariously funny and tongue-in-cheek, but, again, it is also extremely heartwarming and deals with some topical societal issues.
There is no end to the value of this show and I would recommend you watch every episode of it as soon as you can.
Queer Eye
Queer Eye is a remake of the classic queer advice and lifestyle show from decades ago.
The five queer men take on the challenge of reinventing someone who is in the need of a real boost in many different aspects of their life. Each presenter has a special skill which they can offer to the person in need.
Through the show, we go on a journey with this person as they reexamine their life and work towards fixing what isn’t currently working.
Each of the Queer Eye guys has unique humour that brings an overall lightness and comedy to the show. Each story is handled with love and care and what we see every time is a journey from darkness into light led by the Queer Eye Team.
It is a wholesome and lighthearted show that will have you feeling hopeful and motivated by the end of it.
