If you are wondering to yourself, what will I watch on Disney Plus this week? Then, we have the blog post for you.
Disney Plus is a great streaming service that seems to only go from strength to strength. Now, with the inclusion of Star, Pixar and Marvel, there is a seemingly infinite amount of choice within the app when it comes to things to watch. There is something for every kind of person and every kind of genre.
While this is great, it makes it not so easy to just choose something sometimes.
Sometimes we spend so long scrolling through the homepage, looking for something to watch, we end up wasting half of our evening. Sometimes too much choice makes things too difficult.
That is where we come in with something to help you out.
We are going to tell you about 3 of the best things you can watch on Disney Plus right now, so you can go ahead and get straight to some great viewing time, without having to worry about scrolling endlessly through your options.
Does that sound good to you?
If so, let’s jump right on into it.
Only Murders in The Building
Only Murders in The Building is one of my personal favourite things to watch on Disney Plus from 2021. It was something I didn’t expect to be nearly as amazing as it was and I ended up hooked the entire season.
The show tells the story of 3 unique characters who live in the same apartment building in New York. One night, a murder takes place in their building and the 3 of them, who all just so happen to love murder podcasts, take a personal interest in finding out what happened to the deceased.
The story gets trickier and more complex as the show goes on, and I really wasn’t expecting a lot of the twists and turns that took place. Usually, with this kind of show, you pretty much can guess what is going to happen from about halfway through the series, but this definitely wasn’t the case here.
Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez make up an unlikely trio that proves to be a match made in heaven. Each character is unique and uniquely flawed, drawing you into their personal stories from the get-go.
If you want something to watch on Disney Plus that is going to have you super invested from the beginning until the very end, this is the show for you.
I guarantee it will end up as one of your binge-watches for a weekend.
The Book of Boba Fett
For fans of Star Wars, The Mandalorian, and anything sci-fi, The Book of Boba Fett will be the perfect choice for you to watch on Disney Plus.
The series is a spin-off from The Mandalorian, focusing on the “crime lord and bounty hunter” Boba Fett that we have heard of throughout the Star Wars universe. The general storyline of the series is that the characters Boba Fett and Fennec Shand are attempting to take over a territory once controlled by everyone’s favourite retro villain, Jabba the Hutt. We follow these characters in their trials and tribulations along this story, fully immersed in the amazing galaxy of the Star Wars world.
The reception to this show has been interesting. Its season finale is reported to have had the highest number of viewers to tune in and watch on Disney Plus, more than 1.5 million viewers.
However, the critical reception noticeably went down towards the end of the series, with some people hitting out on social media against the last couple of episodes.
Star Wars always has an interesting critical reception and with such a large fanbase, you are always going to get strong opinions.
I love the show, and the only way to find out if you will love it too is to go and give it a watch on Disney Plus… right now.
Encanto
If you haven’t heard of Encanto yet I don’t know what you have been doing apart from living under a rock for the last 6 months.
Even though we have all probably heard about it already, it is just so good that I had to include it on this list on the off chance somebody out there hasn’t seen it yet and is greatly missing out!
We couldn’t have you missing out, could we?
Encanto tells the story of The Madrigals, a Colombian family who all have magic in their blood, except for Mirabel. The film is an animated musical with original songs written by Hamilton writer Lin-Manuel Miranda.
The movie is, in one word, magical.
I think it is one of the best-animated films that we have seen from Disney in a long time, and to be able to watch on Disney Plus right from our homes is a real treat.
In this film, the story is great, the casting is amazing, the songs are viral, the characters are endearing, and pretty much every other aspect hits the nail on the head. It checks all my criteria for a great film and I imagine I am not alone in saying I have watched it multiple times already.
And this has been the reception across the world. All you have to do is take a quick look at the social media app TikTok, and you will see videos made with the music from Encanto every couple of minutes. It has been universally accepted and loved and seems to have been added to the long list of Disney’s timeless animated films.
We don’t talk about Bruno, but we can definitely talk about how amazing this film is and why everyone should immediately go and give it a watch on Disney Plus.
How else will you be able to sing and dance along with the infinite number of videos made about it?
You’ve got to be part of the Encanto club, or you are just missing out!
