Travelling can be pretty expensive. Every step of a trip adds up and very often it adds up to an amount that is more than what we are comfortable with. And so, often, this means that many of us travel far less than we would really like to.
But this doesn’t have to necessarily be the case.
Luckily, there are ways that you can learn to travel more efficiently within a budget, so that you may go out there and travel as much as you would like to.
In this short blog, we have 3 of those very tips here to help you.
It won’t make everything free, that’s for sure. And we certainly can’t get you a 7-night stay at the Hilton for £100, but we can help you begin to find a much healthier money-travel balance.
Sound good? Ok then let’s get started.
Get a budget travel friendly credit card
A lot of countries will charge you to use the regular card you use at home, some will also charge you to withdraw cash while you are over there. One of the best and most practical things you can do to save money while travelling is to get a good travel credit card.
Make sure that you shop around with different banks before you pick any specific card, as different banks will offer you different rates and deals on their credit cards and travel cards. There are some very good deals out there so it’s important that you try and make sure you find the very best deal for you. You can use comparison websites to help you make your decision more easily.
This can really help in the long run with your finances in travelling.
Plan your trips backwards
Many of us plan our trips abroad the wrong way around without even realising it.
We pick a destination we want to go to or a resort we want to stay in and then we plan everything else around that. This can end up making things more expensive for us down the line.
We should, instead, shop around for the best flight deals and hotel deals around before we decide where we want to go. We can also look at the cheapest dates and times of year to travel before we decide anything else. Yes, it’s a little more spontaneous and you need to trust the process a little more, but planning backwards is one of the most effective money saving techniques out there, why not give it a go?
Take part in points systems whenever you can
There are lots of points and rewards systems out there for travellers, if you aren’t already involved in one – get involved!
Funding trips and stays with points as well as financial funds will help you stretch your money a little further when you are travelling. It will also reward you for being a frequent traveller, which is always fun.
Budget travel doesn’t have to be something super boring or stressful, it can also be something rewarding and fun. It’s just about knowing the right ways to do it
