In our modern day and age, most of us don’t connect with nature nearly as much as we should do. As a result, we very often feel flat, depressed, and even dissociated.
Can not spending enough time with nature really have all these adverse effects?
Yes! Unfortunately, it really can do so.
But, fortunately, there are lots of very easy and accessible ways that we can begin to connect with nature more so that we can be much happier and healthier in our everyday lives.
Want to learn how to do so? Then keep reading.
Go outside and into nature at least once every day
It sounds simple, but one of the very best things you can do for yourself this year is to go outside and be in nature at least once every day. Lots of us across the world spend the majority of our time behind screens all day long, for both work and leisure.
We spend more time than ever before on social media, gaming, and watching media, and we spend less time than ever before outside and in nature.
If you want to feel happier and healthier, with a strong connection to nature and the world around you, start by making sure you are out there every day. Not just once a week and not just now and again, every day.
Bring nature indoors with plants, herbs, and fresh air
The unfortunate reality is that lots of us have to spend the majority of our day inside and even though we can combat this a little with trips outside, we have to accept that we are inside a lot and we need to do some things to make this more tolerable.
You can connect more to nature while you are inside by bringing some of the outdoors indoors. Put alive plants and herbs around different rooms in your house to get lots of green in there and to keep the air pure and of good quality. Open your windows regularly to let fresh air flow through the house and stop things from getting stuffy or claustrophobic.
We might not be able to be outside all day but we can work on making our inside more comfortable and more connected.

Leave your screens at home when connecting outdoors
As we’ve discussed elsewhere in this blog, most of us spend far too much time on our phones. Therefore, when we go out into nature for nice walks and hikes, we tend to take our phones with us to take pictures and to post on social media. This kind of defeats the purpose.
If we go outside and we spend our time looking at a screen, are we really connecting to nature at all?
If we are going to connect, we need to connect.
Without screens and with our full attention.
When we do this consistently over time, we will be feeling happier and healthier in no time.
