Do you watch Saturday Night Live?
If you do, you’ll know that some of the funniest actresses and actors come and go through the stage and give timeless comedy performances over the years.
If you don’t, well, you’re missing out.
The show is an American sketch show in which famous comedians perform skits, sketches and scenarios. There are very often some celebrity guests on the show and one of the most famous sketches is the co-host anchoring scenes, which run in each episode.
The show has been around since the 90s and in that time it has seen some of the most hilarious comedy performances on American Television.
If you haven’t gotten into the show yet or you have and want to revisit some of the best moments, here are our three favourite SNL performers of all time for you to check out.
We could all use a laugh some days and SNL is always filled with laughs.
Kristen Wiig
Kristen Wiig was an iconic part of the SNL cast from 2003-2010 and for many, her name has become synonymous with SNL itself.
Kristen has gone on to be in many big blockbuster movies since leaving the cast, such as the Ghostbusters remake and Bridesmaids, and she is well-established as one of the funniest comedic actors in the U.S. right now.
But her time at SNL was particularly memorable. She played a diverse number of characters over the years and played each one with authenticity and exceptional humour.
She has a true talent for making everything she does funny and she will have you completely immersed in her performances.
Out of every cast member that has come and gone through the doors of SNL, Kristen is truly my favourite.
Fred Armisen
Fred Armisen left SNL in 2017 after 11 years of service on the show.
He is an integral part of the show’s history and the show wouldn’t have been the same without his hilarious performances.
Fred is a chameleon of an actor, bending the rules of society, gender, and performance. He never confines himself to any one societal box and he is known for pushing every boundary that there is out there.
All of the characters he plays are 100% convincing, whilst being simultaneously lubricious and outlandish.
If you haven’t watched any of his SNL performances yet, you are missing out. Big time.
Amy Phoeler
Amy Poehler was in and out of SNL from 2001 to 2008, often co-working with famous duo partner Tina Fey.
Amy had a ream of hilarious characters and skits of which she was the star, and her SNL portfolio is impressive.
She is another actor that is one of the most famous faces to come from SNL and she is someone that will always be related to the show.
Her slapstick humour and flair for physical comedy align perfectly with the humour of the show. If you loved her as Leslie Knope in Parks and Recreation, you are sure to love her sketches from SNL.
Well, why are you still here? Go out there and watch these sketches, it’ll be sure to turn your day around in a heartbeat!
