There is no shortage of hilarious stand-up comedians out there to keep us company during the dark and cold winter nights. And, in fact, sometimes this is our problem in the first place. There are so many great comedians to watch, how do we pick one? How do we save ourselves from hours of scrolling, just trying to find something to watch?
Here’s how: you check out our top 3 list of the best comedians in 2021 and pick one of them.
Easy!
You’re welcome.
Let’s get into that list before you waste any more time not watching comedy.
James Acaster
James Acaster has been on the British comedy scene for a few years now but he has come into centre stage more recently due to his amazingly popular Netflix special.
James seems to be in his element with comedy right now and he seems to have found his footing.
He is a really unique comedian with a really unique comedic delivery. He captures British satire well and he is, honestly, quite an unusual guy. But this works to his benefit.
If you want to watch some comedy that is different to other performers you have seen before and gives you something you wouldn’t expect, you should check out any of James’ stand-up routines or his Netflix special.
He marches to the beat of his own drum, that’s for sure.
Bo Burnham
Bo Burnham has been the topic of much discussion and debate this year due to his Netflix special “Inside”. The special was filmed, you guessed it, inside. During the pandemic and during the most intense period of lockdown, Bo wrote, directed and performed his musical comedy special all by himself.
The special is the perfect blend of hilarious and melancholic and it does an amazing job of summing up that confusing period of time that was the pandemic.
He touches on many different societal issues that will be relatable to a wide audience and he does so with great skill in comedy and performance. His comedy is something that speaks to many people and there have been so many reactions and videos posted in response to “Inside”.
The special had me personally thinking and reflecting for weeks afterwards and it is something that I have now watched multiple times over.
If you haven’t seen it yet or you haven’t seen any other of Bo’s routines, you’re missing out… Big time.
Hannah Gadsby
Hannah Gadsby’s comedy is something really unique and special.
She is funny, witty and sharp and her delivery is a treat to watch.
But, aside from her jokes, Hannah uses her platform to discuss some really big issues. Her Netflix specials switch from comedy to heart-to-heart declarations very quickly and it can be something that takes you off-guard.
She is an expert at capturing an audience and you will find yourself hanging off her every word.
For comedy that is definitely outside the box of what comedy “should be”, Hannah is up there with the best. If you are looking for something truly unique, her comedy will be perfect for you and your next chilled night in.
Comedy brings a lot of different things into our lives, and Hannah manages to do them all.
Well, what do you think? What will you watch first?
