Listening to podcasts is normally associated with learning and expanding our minds. It is a really popular activity but one that is most typically related to self-improvement and healthy living. It is for the health nuts, the fitness enthusiasts, and the learners.
Or is it?
Listening to podcasts does not have to be limited to any kind of person. There are podcasts to fit every kind of genre, interest and person. And they are more accessible than ever. It used to require a specific podcast subscription to listen to current, good-quality podcasts, but now a Spotify music subscription will do the trick too.
A genre you might not expect from podcasts, or one you simply haven’t experienced in podcast form yet, is that of humour and comedy.
There are lots of really funny podcasts out there to listen to. If you need a pick-me-up on the bus, during the work commute, in the bath, or on your run, there are lots of options out there in podcast form.
Funny podcasts are not limited to just being funny either. There are great podcasts out there that cleverly blend the lines of humour and intelligence, comedy and information. They know how to provide great individual value to their listeners all while keeping it light and funny.
These are my personal top 3 favourite podcasts who do just do that.
Blind Boy
Blind Boy is an Irish comedian and musician who is also one half of The Rubberbandits.
Blind Boy has the most exceptional podcast I have ever listened to. He manages to make really complex and intricate subjects accessible, interesting and hilarious, all the while sensitively addressing and handling the serious nature of these subjects.
He tackles a lot of issues about mental health and emotional health and does so with extreme care and attention. He talks from experience and so much of his podcast content is authentic and real.
He has a really unique flair for talking. His voice is calming and his story-telling flows naturally.
If you want something really great to listen to, Blind Boy is the way to go.
Call Her Daddy
Call Her Daddy is a sexually liberated, feminist-led podcast created by Alex Cooper.
The podcast has a huge cult following and has turned Alex’s conversations into a feminist empire.
The subjects of the podcast can be anything from sex advice, gender discussions, sexual liberty, personal empowerment, and breaking barriers.
The podcast is revolutionary and, honestly, a lot of fun.
Sh**ged Married Annoyed
This very down-to-earth podcast is from married couple Rosie and Chris Ramsey. They take to their podcast to discuss the musings of everyday life, from parenting to everyday arguments. They also take some callers and have a secret celebrity appearance sometimes.
This podcast is a really relatable and funny podcast that will remind you there are other people out there experiencing a lot of the same things that you are. It will also give you a laugh just when you need it.
No frills, no smoke, no mirrors, just authentic discussion and conversation that will have you feeling happier and understood in no time.
